Egypt

Egypt....what a place.  Yesterday I went to some interview in downtown Alexandria.  My dad came with me and when we were down we went looking around to buy a new phone line.  It was fun.  We stopped to eat at this tiny Egyptian restaurant which is actually very good and very famous too.  It was called Mohammed Ahmed.  I called some friends to see where they were so I could meet up with them after dad and I ate and it turned out they were coming to that place too.  So I ate with them and then we went and got juice from this juice store.  I had mango juice and it was so good, fresh, cool and just extravegantly delicious.  Then we started walking.  We walked and walked and went to the sea and walked down until we got to the famous and glorious Alexandria Library.  We walked around there and eventually got admission tickets to go in.  We went to these photography displays.  There were pictures and paintings of the old Alexandria.  It was fabulous.  Poetry from famous poets and literature and music and adds for theatre and casinos.  It truly was exciting to see what Alexandria looked like before and see the lighthouse (Al Fanar) and everything really.  We went to another display which was all the art and photographs of a man (which I forgot his name).  It really was just amazing.  He drew with such intricate details.  We then walked back through the scorching Egyptian sun.  Yes it was scorching.  Even the full Egyptians who have not been in the states were struggling.   It was hot.  We stopped back at our juice store and went home.  That evening we all met up at church again.  I'm going to jump to the funnest part of the evening.  After the service the church set up a big screen and set up the Brazil- Japan game where all the youth and adults crowded around and watched.  It truly was so much fun.  I was just sitting with my friends watching and talking and joking.

Anyway, got home late that night...Today however I have started up again.  This time with my mom.  We went walking through a bazaar in downtown Alexandria.  We bought material so we can have some clothes made.  Of course there was the bargaining and the guy offering us drinks while pulling out every color and style they have in the store.  Then after the heat started getting to my head mom and I bought what we picked out and started out walk back.  Street vendors were calling out to us as we slowly started a hot stroll back to the church where my dad was teaching.  Then off we went again bought a skirt.  What was great about this store was that it was actually just a bunch of clothes strung up around the entrance of an apartment building.  The dressing room was a corner closed off by a curtain which kept blowing around with the slight breeze that came in the building.  Mom and I bought the skirt, did a bit more shopping and then finally we went to the next building where instead of a clothes store there was a small cantein.  Mom and I bought some chips, coke and icecream...yummy.  We just stood in the shade of the building for a while and went on to buy my glasses.  Now that was a nice place but I am not going to go into it.  I am too scared to even think about wearing them.  So now, I am going to go meet up with more friends....I love Egypt.

“The roads are rugged, the precipices are steep; there may be a feeling of dizziness on the heights, gusts of wind, peals of thunder, nights of awful gloom- Fear them not.  There are also joys of the sunlight, flowers such as are not on the plain, the purest of air, restful nooks, and the stars smile thence like the eyes of God.”

 ~Pere Didon- Spiritual Letters~

“The purer the aim, the more vehement the opposition, human and spiritual.”
~ Amy Carmichael~

“There is so much sadness in the world, so many heartaches, so many tears fall, it is rather wonderful to be away for a little while in a tearless world, left just as God made it…these elemental things seem to carry one back to the beginnings, the fundamentals, the things that cannot be shaken, ancient verities of God.”
~ Amy Carmichael~
